WNBA’s Sophie Cunningham says she has 20 stalkers being watched by FBI

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham commented on stalkers this week during an appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, saying the problem is growing along with the WNBA’s popularity.

“We’ll have to check if I’m even allowed to say this,” Cunningham said. “I like have, I think, 20, I think, people kind of, that the FBI are watching for me. Me alone.”

“People are going to know who you are, and that’s a really great thing,” she said, adding that it also brings safety concerns. “We do have a lot of stalkers. I know I do. And like that’s a negative side of things that people don’t think about. And so you do want to feel secure.”

For what it’s worth, Cunningham has been an outspoken proponent of protecting women’s sports from male competitors “identifying” as female.

When asked about WNBA teams “walking out on the anthem,” Cunningham let it be known that certain players have been doing that for several years. Stating that she has family members who’ve served their country, Cunningham expressed her full support for military service members and veterans.

“Anytime I can shout out our veterans & the people currently fighting for us to live in the best country, I’m going to… That’s where I stand,” she said.

Cunningham, who is teammates with Caitlin Clark, also confessed her faith in Jesus Christ, and spoke about why he died on the cross:

Social media users had their own ideas on why Cunningham may need security — here’s a sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
