Millions of migrants who were welcomed into the country by the Biden administration have had their status revoked.
A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agency is “reversing the downstream effects of the Biden border crisis,” according to a press release issued Thursday.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is “delivering on the Administration’s agenda and putting the American people first,” the press release announced, explaining that since January 20, 2025, the agency “has carried out immigration enforcement actions to revoke or terminate the status of approximately 2.2 million illegal aliens.”
President Trump promised the American people that our immigration laws would be enforced, and these numbers reflect the scale of that commitment.
Those who abuse or flagrantly disregard our immigration system are now on notice that these violations of law will not be tolerated or overlooked.
Securing our border was only the beginning. We are restoring integrity to the entire immigration system and putting the safety of our American citizens first.

The federal agency oversees lawful immigration into the U.S., including naturalization applications and requests for visas and work permits.
Under President Joe Biden, USCIS reportedly approved millions of illegal migrant work permits and green cards, as well as issuing Social Security numbers and granting Temporary Protected Status. But with the Trump administration’s focus on restoring law and order, the ship has been turned around.
Open borders and mass migration have crushed American families with rising rents and overcrowded hospitals and classrooms.
Under President Trump, communities that work with ICE are helping bring down rent costs for Americans.

According to the press release, USCIS’s enforcement actions include:
- Ending the misuse of Temporary Protected Status so that TPS is once again truly temporary;
- Denying applications to extend or change nonimmigrant status when no legal basis exists;
- Issuing Notices to Appear (NTAs) to place removable aliens into removal proceedings before an immigration judge;
- Ending the automatic extension of employment authorization documents, ensuring every alien is properly screened and vetted before any work authorization is renewed; and
- Terminating categorical parole programs and returning parole to strict case-by-case review as Congress intended.
“These actions have real consequences. Every fraudulent application identified, every ineligible benefit denied, and every national security threat flagged represents an immigration system working to uphold the law and protect the American people,” the DHS statement noted. “By strengthening screening and vetting, preventing the exploitation of immigration benefits, and initiating removal proceedings against those who violate our laws, USCIS is closing the gaps that undermine public safety and national security.”
“USCIS is exercising its full legal authorities to deny meritless applications, terminate unlawfully granted immigration benefits, initiate removal proceedings, and revoke improper approvals—all while promoting accountability and preventing the misuse of public benefits.” it continued.
