America’s dumbest city is now on track to elect America’s dumbest person to office as mayor of their very dumb community.
According to new polling data and various reports, Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman has taken a very noticeable lead over incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in the upcoming mayoral race.
This is a very notable development because Raman is a complete nutter who’s in favor of the homeless camping out next to schools, who’s referred to Israel’s justified actions in Gaza as a “genocide,” and who’s a proud socialist.

According to the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL), she’s voted over 75 times against rules that would have made it illegal for a homeless encampment to spring up within 500 feet of a school.
“I mean, it’s like, I don’t think a kid’s gonna be safer because a tent is 500 feet away from a school,” she said during a January debate against Bass.
Yet when activists set up a fake homeless encampment close to her own home in May, she freaked out.
“I woke up this morning to a sound of commotion outside of my window, and I looked out the window and I realized that there were people setting up what was, I think, a fake encampment, like a homeless encampment outside of my house,” she said during a podcast appearance.
“Multiple people gathered there filming it, shooting something with cameras and things like that outside of my house,” she continued. “I have two little kids. Yeah. They didn’t see it, luckily, this morning. But, you know, I feel badly that I’m even subjecting them to that at all.”

Bass has been taking advantage of Raman’s lunacy, according to My News LA.
“Nithya Raman believes that it’s OK for encampments to be outside of schools, day cares and other sensitive locations,” her campaign spokesperson said in a statement. “Mayor Bass has made it clear that Angelenos, especially kids, should not have to dodge tents on their way to school or dance class.”
Meanwhile, the LAPPL dropped an ad targeting Raman this week.

The ad showed a child trying to walk to school while dealing with homeless encampments.
“Walking to school shouldn’t be scary,” the child said in the ad. “Bad things can happen. I see things I’m not supposed to, so I keep my head down, so I don’t have to look or step on a needle. I’m just a kid, even I’d know I’d be safer if this was 500 feet away.”
The release of the ad was accompanied by a statement from LAPPL President Ricky Mendoza.
“As a city councilmember, Nithya Raman has voted over 75 times against banning homeless encampments at over 500 separate locations next to schools, parks, daycare and other sensitive locations throughout Los Angeles,” he told My News LA.
“Ms. Raman just doesn’t get it: No child should have to walk to and from school or the park past dangerous encampments, it’s just not right,” he added.
Raman also supports “sanctuary city” protections for illegal aliens:
