13-officers fired, connected to cooking DC crime books … just like Trump said

Democrats and their media allies laughed, but it appears President Donald Trump was right when he warned a year ago about D.C.’s “fake crime numbers.”

“D.C. gave Fake Crime numbers in order to create a false illusion of safety,” the president wrote on Truth Social back in August. “This is a very bad and dangerous thing to do, and they are under serious investigation for so doing!”

A day later, after the media reported that the Trump administration had opened an investigation into the matter and was sending troops to D.C., Democrats and their media allies pounced, accusing him of using a manufactured crisis to invade the city with his “Gestapo.”

Yet months later, it’s since been confirmed that D.C.’s crime data was most likely manipulated.

“Thirteen members of Washington, DC’s Metropolitan Police Department have been placed on administrative leave and face possible termination following an internal investigation into allegations that crime data was manipulated to make the city appear safer,” CNN reported on Tuesday.

According to local station WJLA, these firings may just be the beginning: “The city is expected to see a domino effect of change with the D.C. Police; the 13 officials put on leave are just the first step,” the station reported.

The White House celebrated D.C.’s decision to finally take responsibility and pursue change.

“President Trump was right – crime in Washington DC was a serious problem before he took bold action to establish a task force to make the city safe and beautiful again,” a spokesperson told Fox News. “Now, crime rates have dropped dramatically, dangerous criminals have been removed from the streets, and the city’s true grandeur is being restored.”

“Democrats should learn an important lesson from this; instead of instinctively attacking the President and his great ideas, they should work with him to deliver for the American people,” the spokesperson added.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has taken some of the credit for what’s now happening in D.C.

“These terminations are a direct result of the Oversight Committee’s work exposing dangerous efforts by DC Police leaders to artificially lower crime rates,” he said in an official statement.

He also spoke about the matter directly from D.C.:

“We launched the investigation on the Oversight Committee of the Metro Police Department because I think we all live in Washington, D.C., and we all say that crime is out of control,” he said in the clip above. “People were carjacking cars.”

“I mean, it was out of control before the president brought in the National Guard. And then the Metro Police Department would cite these crime statistics and try to say crime was down. I don’t think anybody was buying that. So we did the investigation,” he added.

Using whistleblowers, the committee investigated D.C.’s crime numbers while Democrats “criticized every step of the way,” Comer noted.

“Some of you may have written that this was a partisan, racial investigation or whatever, [but] at the end of the day, the accountability is that they were lying and 13 police officers have been removed,” he continued. “It’s very difficult to remove a government employee. So I think this is a victory for accountability.”

But more accountability may still be needed. Back in August, the leftist “fact-checker” FactCheck.org alleged through an “expert” that “D.C. police murder stats [are] ‘very reliable.’”
