What you should know about the judge who apologized to would-be Trump assassin

The Muslim judge who apologized to the latest would-be Trump assassin is as “woke” as a judge can possibly be.

Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui, a member of the Capital Area Muslim Bar Association, apologized to would-be Trump assassin Cole Allen on Monday for the bad treatment he allegedly faced in D.C. jail.

“To me, it’s extremely disturbing that he was put in five-point restraints, a person with no criminal history,” the judge said. “It’s troubling. I never heard of one Jan. 6 defendant who was put in five-point restraints or in a safe cell.”

“What am I to say to Allen that this is going to be a fair process if we’re putting him in a safe cell when he’s not supposed to be in there? At a minimum, I should be apologizing to him. We are obligated to make sure he’s taken care of,” he added.

Inmates are typically put in five-point restraints when they act out in belligerent ways (yelling, spitting, etc.) and refuse to listen to the orders of corrections officers.

Whether or not an inmate is placed in constraints is never related to the alleged crime they committed, but rather their behavior inside jail. It’s not clear why Faruqui didn’t seem to know this.

But judging by Faruqui’s long history of “woke” madness as documented by Fox News, it doesn’t seem he knows much at all.

DEI Fanatic

For starters, the judge is a fan of diversity, equity, and inclusion, a backwards, racist philosophy that calls for rectifying historical injustices and discrimination against the minority population by applying modern injustice and discrimination against the majority population.

“Judge Faruqui’s record demonstrates a deep commitment to pro bono representation, public interest law, fairness, and diversity—as well as keen analytical skills and sound judicial decision-making,” the Washington Council of Lawyers wrote three years ago in support of Faruqui’s campaign to be a D.C. district judge.

The letter added that he’d “devoted much of his career to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.”

Anti-ICE Resistance

Faruqui is, not surprisingly, an avid member of the anti-Trump “resistance.”

After Venezuelan illegal alien Enrique Carias Torres was arrested by masked immigration agents last year, Faruqui made a big deal out of it.

“I’d say we live in a surreal world right now,” he said in court. “This is not consistent with what I understand the United States of America to be. You should be treated with basic human dignity. We don’t have a secret police.”

Pro-Criminal Activism

Faruqui also complained when President Donald Trump cracked down on D.C. crime last summer, going so far as to block the administration from indicting some criminals.

His stunning blocks angered the administration so much that government attorney Jonathan R. Hornak accused him of ignoring the law and “bloviating” from the bench.

“Judge Faruqui’s bloviate first and consider the law later approach is just the latest example of his demonstrated prejudice against the U.S. Attorney and the Trump Administration,” Hornak alleged, as reported by station WOUB.

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro is also no fan of the judge.

“This judge has a long history of bending over backwards to release dangerous felons in possession of firearms, and on frequent occasions, he has downplayed the seriousness of felons who possess illegal firearms and the danger they pose to our community,” she said last August.

In addition, Faruqui is against cash bail. Asked about cash jail during an event in 2022, he made it clear he believes it should be eliminated.

“We try not — we should not — incarcerate poverty, right?” he said. “We incarcerate based on the presumption, in certain cases of detention, when there is a crime for which someone is presumed to be detained, but they still have an opportunity to show not.”
