The effort to give Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) the boot just picked up a viral boost as a Gotham-themed promotion for Spencer Pratt signaled a “new era of online persuasion.”
Just as contentious and critical as the race for California’s next governor, the fight to lead Los Angeles is underway with mail-in voting ahead of the June 2 election. On top of his own “compelling ad” shaming the incumbent and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Nithya Raman (D) for living in luxury while Angelos struggle, Pratt garnered an artistic assist featuring Bass as the Joker presiding over a city in chaos.
Courtesy of Charles Curran and his Menace Studio, Los Angeles set afire was seemingly ignored by the mayor, sitting as judge, flanked by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and former Vice President Kamala Harris, as agents of the Democratic Socialists of America dragged in citizens for sentencing to further suffering.
To combat this, Pratt was styled as Batman, heeding the call of Joe Rogan as Commissioner Gordon to combat the left with the message “LA is worth saving.”

Within the cinema-style, unofficial campaign ad, Newsom was seen as an aristocrat dining on cake, pushing genital mutilation surgeries. Harris, repeatedly shown chugging on a bottle of booze, could be heard giving a riff on her endorsement of Bass, claiming she “already solved crime. I endorse her.”
In her official statement, the vice president said, “Mayor Karen Bass is the leader Los Angeles needs right now. She has done what so many said couldn’t be done — the first ever two-year decline in homelessness, reducing crime to levels this city hasn’t seen since the 1960s, and refusing to back down when the federal government came after our neighbors.”
Like many others, Pratt’s family, including his wife, Heidi Montag, and their two sons, lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire. Now, the registered Republican who reminded that the mayoral race is non-partisan, promised to “not serve either party” and “work with anyone who wants to help the City. No labels necessary.”
Demonstrating that the people will be the ultimate determinant in whether or not Bass is kept to one term, citizens are shown hurling tomatoes at the leftists, chasing them off after an appearance by the Secretary of State as DJ Marco Rubio exclaims, “You can do it, Spencer.”
Barring a candidate receiving the majority of votes, a November runoff will be held between the top two candidates to decide the winner.
Amid the high praise for the video and the surging support for Pratt, nationally syndicated radio host and former CIA analyst Buck Sexton assessed, “This ad is phenomenal. We’re in a new era of online persuasion. Politics is content; content is politics.”

This is an outstanding political ad. It may be shown in film, communications, and political science courses some day. It’s the rise of the overnight political short film: Entertains first, amplifies existing message, uses characters, and supports a candidate. Congratulations.
