John Brennan warns Trump could meddle in midterms — singles out Todd Blanche as ‘devious’

The former top spook wrapped up in Russiagate set out to fearmonger over what President Donald Trump and a “devious” member of the Justice Department may do about midterm election results.

Demonization of the president and his administration is par for the course on corporate media, and Monday it took the shape of sowing doubt about election integrity. Specifically, former CIA Director John Brennan insisted Trump would do “whatever he can get away with” in order to get a favorable outcome after the midterms.

Appearing on MS NOW’S “On The Line” in a segment where anchor Alicia Menendez claimed the president is “determined to derail the electoral process,” Brennan’s opinion was sought in the wake of multiple interviews over the weekend featuring Attorney General Todd Blanche.

The host, daughter of disgraced former New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez (D), who was sentenced to 11 years in prison for a bribery and corruption scheme with the Egyptian government, asked the former CIA official, who was subpoenaed in September to testify before a federal grand jury in Florida about his role in the Russia collusion hoax of the 2016 presidential election, “Director Brennan, what concerns you most?”

“Well, the office of the presidency has tremendous authorities that it can use the executive branch, as we’ve seen, whether it be the Department of Justice or ICE or other elements of the Department of Homeland Security, to disrupt the day of the election or to actually challenge the certifications afterward,” stated Brennan, who added, “So, again, I think Donald Trump is going to do whatever he can get away with.”

He then took aim at the nation’s top cop, saying, “And, unfortunately, we have people like Todd Blanche who I think is just showing how devious a lawyer he is by trying to defend the indefensible. Because the things that he’s been saying on the talk shows this weekend, you know, I think, certainly show that he has an unprincipled view and an attitude toward his job as attorney general.”

As was reported, in addition to defending the Justice Department’s lawsuit in Alaska, should the inclusion of a second Dan Sullivan on the ranked choice ballot result in incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan’s loss, Blanche batted down CNN host Dana Bash’s argument that such an effort could result in “God forbid, what we saw after January 6th.”

“These elections are so critically important, and it’s rather, you know, curious as to why all the elections that go Donald Trump’s way, he has no problem with, in terms of saying that they were fraudulently achieved,” furthered Brennan. “Any time it goes against his way or his preferred outcome, he claims fraud, he claims a rigged election, he claims some type of interference.”

“So, again, it just shows that Donald Trump has no interest in a fair outcome of the election,” claimed the onetime CIA director as Democrats blocked efforts to clean up voter rolls of foreign nationals while downplaying the increasing number of charges brought against those alleged to have illegally voted. “What he’s looking for is any way that he can tilt it so the Republicans, who continue to bow and genuflect at him, remain in control of the House as well as the Senate.”
