ICE: Florida lawyer busted for threatening federal agents at gun store

A 70-year-old Florida attorney was arrested after she allegedly tried to buy a gun while implying she would be shooting federal agents.

The bizarre case started in late September, when Lisa White reportedly walked into High Caliber Guns in Long Beach, Mississippi, looking to buy a firearm and some pepper spray. According to the complaint, White claimed she needed the weapon for protection at protests since she’s an activist. An employee at the store indicated that she asked whether the firearm would be able to penetrate body armor.

“The employee reportedly pressed White about her question. White said she would need to shoot the agent in the head, shoulder, arm or leg if the gun could not penetrate armor, the complaint said,” WLOX reported. “The employee reportedly told White that pointing a gun at law enforcement would likely result in her being killed, to which White responded, ‘If I have to die, I have to die,’ according to the complaint.”

The employee advised White to purchase pepper spray instead and suggested going to a shooting range for some training.

She returned to the store later in the day to complete the sale, but was denied. White was told to come back in a few days, and the interaction was reported to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), which referred the incident to the Homeland Security Investigations arm of ICE.

She was arrested on September 24 and is currently being held on charges of influencing, impeding or retaliating against a federal official by threat. If convicted, she will face penalties including up to a decade in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and supervised release. Court documents indicate that White is eligible to practice law in the state of Florida
