Florida Governor Ron DeSantis greeted President Donald Trump upon his arrival in Florida on Friday, offering the president a gold coin that commemorates his survival of two assassination attempts.
The custom coin features the president grinning with his middle finger up, alongside an engraving that reads “You missed, b**ches.”

This comes after 20-year-old Thomas Crooks tried, and failed, to kill the president in Butler, Pennsylvania. Corey Comperatore lost his life as a result of that shooting, using his body to shield his family from the gunfire. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro lauded the engineer in a statement following the assassination attempt.
“Corey was a girl dad. Corey was a firefighter. Corey went to church every Sunday. Corey loved his community, and most especially, Corey loved his family. Corey was an avid supporter of the former president and was so excited to be there last night with him in the community,” Shapiro said.
The president reflected on the incident in an interview earlier this year, while speaking to Fox & Friends.
“They blew Butler, because they had one building that was empty and they blew it. Now, at the same time, David, our sniper, from 300 yards was able to act within less than four seconds and took out somebody he did not know existed, which was unbelievable. If he didn’t do that, you would have had a lot of people — and maybe not me — they were on top of me quickly and very brave,” he said.
A second successful attempt was made by Ryan Routh, who is currently serving life in prison for the attack, as well as “related violent and firearms offenses,” according to a Department of Justice presser.
“According to evidence presented at trial, then-U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Robert Fercano was patrolling one hole ahead of President Trump at the Trump International Golf Club when he observed Routh pointing what appeared to be an AK 47-style rifle at him from a sniper’s hide concealed in a fence line bordering the golf course. Fearing for his life and the life of President Trump, Special Agent Fercano fired at Routh, who fled the scene,” the document explained. “Law enforcement officers later recovered a Norinco SKS rifle equipped with a scope, a loaded magazine containing 19 rounds of ammunition and one round in the chamber, steel armor plates, and a camera affixed to the fence and pointing at the sixth green of the golf course where President Trump was about to play golf.”
Routh admitted his intent to kill the president in a handwritten letter dropped off at a witness’s residence, saying, “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I am so sorry I failed you.”
