‘Champagne communist’: AOC campaign splurges on fancy hotels

Potential 2028 White House hopeful Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) loves to portray herself as an oligarchy-fighting champion of the working class, but the receipts tell a much different story.

While raging against the rich in order to appeal to her gullible followers, AOC is living high off the hog. A “champagne communist” who reportedly spends money like a drunken sailor on luxurious lodging at fancy hotels.

The New York Post has outed the “Squad” leader as a massive hypocrite in a Friday report that lists examples of Ocasio-Cortez’s preference for posh accommodations far out of the price range of the chumps and suckers who swallow her spiel hook, line, and sinker.

AOC’s congressional re-election campaign has spent “nearly $50,000 on upscale stays in the past seven months — as the democratic socialist darling rallies against the wealthy,” the paper reported, citing Federal Election Commission filings.

Among the expenditures are “$47,000 on 45 hotel charges across the country since April, including a $5,044 bill at The Memphian — a bougie boutique hotel in Memphis, with spa services and an extravagant, animal-themed rooftop bar,” the Post reported.

A stay at the 4-star hotel The Talbott, located in the historic Gold Coast neighborhood in Chicago, set the campaign back $2,274 while the 4-star Candler Hotel in Atlanta resulted in bills of $1,599 and $2,694, according to the FEC records reviewed by the paper.

“Rooms at The Memphian generally cost roughly $200 to $600 per night, while a stay at the The Candler Hotel goes for $130 to $600 nightly. Rooms at The Talbott cost $200 to $400 per night,” the Post states. “In Manhattan, the campaign also spent $530.46 at the upscale Thompson Central Park hotel, which boasts ‘jaw-dropping’ views in rooms up to $1,852 per night, and $318 at the Hyatt Seville NoMad on 29th Street – both rated as luxury tier properties.”

AOC famously sported a pricey designer gown emblazoned with “Tax the Rich” during her appearance at the swanky Met Gala in 2021, an early indication of how the supposed critic of the rich and fabulous is secretly envious and longs to be one of them.

Republicans were quick to call out Ocasio-Cortez’s rank hypocrisy.

“She’s a champagne communist,” said Republican New York State comptroller candidate Joseph Hernandez, a refugee who fled communist Cuba with his parents.

“All Democrats want to do is take donor money and buy nice things for themselves. AOC is a con artist,” said GOP House candidate and businessman Anthony Constantino, who’s running for outgoing Rep. Elise Stefanik’s 21st Congressional District seat.

“I grew up in an actual communist country, where the people in charge lived like kings while everyone else waited in line for bread,” Hernandez added. “Donor or taxpayer money, they spend it like it’s their own.”

AOC would be perfectly at home as one of the pigs in Orwell’s “Animal Farm,” the classic novel about how communists always hijack the revolution to set themselves up as the new elite.
