You’re fired!
That’s essentially what the Tennessee Titans said to its now-former defensive tackle Jordan Elliott after he allegedly pulled a gun on a teammate.
According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, a feud between Elliot and offensive tackle JC Latham escalated into something far more serious after Elliot was ordered to leave the training facility last Thursday.
Wilson reported:
Elliott went to his car in the players’ parking area to retrieve his gun, presumably to confront Latham with the entire sequence captured by security cameras, per sources. The peacemaker that talked Elliott down, per sources: Titans veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers.
The Titans released Elliot on Tuesday.
Ex-#Titans DT Jordan Elliott went to his car to retrieve his gun after a practice altercation with OT JC Latham last Thursday (Oct. 15).
After being told to leave the field, Elliott took off his pads and stormed out of the facility, then went to the players’ lot. Security cameras captured the sequence. Veteran DL John Franklin-Myers talked him down, and no one was hurt.
The Titans released Elliott on Tuesday after reviewing the incident. He signed a 2-year, $8M deal this offseason.

“This was so crazy,” an NFL source reportedly said. “Jordan has been having a lot of problems away from the building and obviously he brought it to work with him. There was no reason for him to go off like that. Everyone thought that was wild. To overreact like that is absolutely crazy. We’re just glad that no one got hurt and it’s over.”
Elliott’s NFL career might not be over, according to the Titans’ head coach, who defended him in a press statement. “He’s a good man” who had a “terrible lapse in judgment,” he said.
“If you need a hell of a run-stopping D-tackle that can help on a playoff run, give me a call.”
Wow. Much respect to #Titans HC Robert Saleh for explaining the DT Jordan Elliott gun situation.
“My message to 31 other teams: If you need a hell of a run-stopping D-tackle that can help on a playoff run, give me a call. I’ll tell you everything you need to know about him. He’s a good man. Had a terrible lapse in judgment. I recognize it as a call for help. Not a criminal act.”
