Ukraine launched the single largest drone attack on Moscow in the history of the war, according to Russian officials. The assault, comprising more than 1,000 drones, was fired deep into Russian territory overnight Saturday into Sunday. Moscow was directly targeted and two people killed and twenty others wounded. A major oil refinery in the capital and a residential building were among the structures to sustain damage in the unprecedented escalation of conflict that can be traced back to four years of arming, funding and political encouragement by the West to transform what began as a regional conflict into a far more dangerous and catastrophic war.
A drone attack on Moscow launched overnight Saturday into Sunday by Ukraine was ‘unprecedented’ according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, with 450 of 1,110 drones fired by Kiev-based forces shot down before they reached the Russian capital. Air defences across the country reportedly shot down all drones launched against Russian oil and logistics facilities, Zelensky confessed in his address to the nation to have hit targets in an attempt to economically cripple Russia’s war machine.
But, as Washington’s foreign policy fails to ask, what’s the end game here?
As Kyiv unleashes more escalation on Russia, each step is followed by increasing levels of support and accolades from the West for the aggressive actions of the newly militarized nation. The death of more civilians, the wounding of soldiers on both sides, the deaths of children in Ukraine, and the slaying of monks in Kherson mean nothing to the globalists who continue to prod Washington to keep fueling the war. Peace is never an option they consider or suggest.
Notably, this newest round of violence came on the final day of Russia’s parliamentary elections. It was a point that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky seemed to drive home in his nightly address to the people of Ukraine, bragging that “oil and logistics facilities” had been struck by “Ukrainian drones” in order to “hit financially at the war machine of Russia.” Ukraine is using domestically produced Flamingo and Pelican missiles in addition to the drone barrage it has been unleashing against civilian targets in Russian territory.
In the meantime, the Russian side regards the new wave of drone attacks as an attempt to interfere with elections to the Russian Duma. A Russian military strike on Ukrainian territory killed two children and their mother on Saturday, while wounding a clergy member in Kherson.
