Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass might be feeling the heat amid massive fraud busts in California.
The Trump administration accused the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) of being an integral part of a fraud scheme where $75 million in taxpayer dollars had been funneled through the group.
HUD Secretary Scott Turner reamed LAHSA on Wednesday, accusing the group of being “riddled with fraud, waste, and abuse.”
“Those days of blank checks are indeed over,” Turner said, calling for LAHSA to be fully shut down.
“These fraudsters received over $130 million; more than $75 million dollars of those were funneled through the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, also known as LAHSA.”
“That is nearly the same amount LAHSA received from HUD every year until the Trump administration put an end to the California corruption!”

Interestingly enough, LA Mayor Bass formally stepped down from LAHSA’s governing board one week ago, last Thursday.
The mayor blamed “scheduling conflicts,” and her office acknowledged the “system is broken.”
“The mayor’s first-hand experience at LAHSA reinforced her understanding that our current system is broken and in need of major overhaul, which is why she is developing a transition plan to build a city-led homelessness response system committed to delivering results for the city of Los Angeles,” a statement from the Mayor’s Office read.
Bass also declined an invitation to testify in a Congressional hearing this week regarding the alleged disappearance of $1 billion in federal funding for LAHSA.
Meanwhile, Turner continued to deliver results on Thursday, announcing the arrest of several alleged bad actors.
Private jets.
Range Rovers.
Opening nightclubs.
Even paying bail for domestic violence.
All on the taxpayer’s dime.

Former LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt made a point of Bass’s timely departure from LAHSA.
“Probably nothing!” he sarcastically posted.
