Singer Chris Brown is hitting back after Texas state Rep. Venton Jones, a Democrat, apologized for honoring his musical achievements.
Brown, who has been the subject of domestic violence allegations in the past, was joined by Jones and Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, at his Arlington show on Saturday. The pair presented him with a resolution about his entertainment career and music achievements as a way to reach out to voters ahead of midterm elections, but were quickly bombarded by critics. So much so, that Jones went on Don Lemon’s podcast to apologize.

“I want to offer an apology,” Jones said, adding that he specifically wanted to apologize to black women.
“I think this is a very important conversation around domestic violence and I want to offer my apology to Black women, to women and to anyone who has experienced domestic violence and really express that it was not my intention to stoke the traumas that go into that, as well as the background of this situation,” he added.
The outrage prompted Brown to lash out in an Instagram story, noting that the lawmakers reached out to him for the stunt.
“Funny thing is…YALL CAME TO ME WITH THIS ! NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. I was minding my damn business. My shows in Dallas were already sold out. I ain’t ask to be honored because I knew some s**t like this would happen and [Jones] immediately started tap dancing and apologizing because he didn’t wanna lose voters and support,” he wrote. “I have a great idea. How about y’all leave me the f**k alone and let me focus on the fans that spent their money to actually see and support me.”
