In a world where it feels like everyone has an opinion on every subject, silence can sometimes be more powerful than words.
Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Michigan, and Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota, reportedly had nothing to say on the 25th Anniversary of September 11, a curious choice for a pair that rarely finds themselves speechless on any matter.

Some critics suggested that their silence was probably a good thing:
I would objectively call this a rare win for both. For once they knew when to shut up. Now deport them both before they say another word.

Thank God they didn’t. Worse than someone who hates the US is someone who hates it but pretends to care about it.

Good, no one wants to hear her opinion on it. She has other problems to deal with right now.

Any statements from her would have been offensive. Directly or through lying

I don’t think her sympathetic statements would have been sincere, so just as well.

Others had harsher assessments:

She was probably mourning the loss of 19 terrorists. https://t.co/YgvLsgZFUs

Staying quiet on the 9/11 anniversary was probably the smartest move available to her. I still can’t picture a single thing Rashida Tlaib might have said that would have been an improvement on her silence. https://t.co/pkIt97FOL2

This is because both Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are terrorist sympathizers who do not give two shits that Americans were killed. They do not belong in congress. https://t.co/GuRzwynEnA

You can do an easy search for all who did not think it was worth a moment to RT something or voice their pain or anger or hope to memorialize and stand with all Americans on 9/11.
Their withholding is not passive it is active anti-American hatred.
So many receipts… https://t.co/7bM7qLbtbl

Omar’s summation of 9/11 as “some people did something” stands the test of time.
There’s no real reason for her to elaborate further.
I certainly understood her feelings on the matter. https://t.co/b1YYLr3F3N
