Fox News’ Brit Hume had a short, simple reply to the news that a Lindsay Clancy juror believed they could create “change” with their verdict.
When one is selected for a jury, the mission is usually to decide if someone is innocent or guilty, and on what charges they are guilty. In some cases, such as the Clancy trial, guilt is alread stipulated to and the jury is to decide the level of criminal responsibility the defendant had at the time of the crime.
But what happens when jurors realize they can use their verdict to affect social change?

Clancy juror Paula Devlin joined CBS to discuss the deliberations that ultimately resulted in a mistrial, at one point admitting that the jury knew the decision would be bigger than just the defendant’s fate.
“We knew that this was a turning point, and this would be something that could change something to make it better for other women in the future, for other families. You know, justice for those kids would be this never happening again,” she declared. It was also revealed that Devlin’s mental health was negatively impacted during and after the trial, even rendering her unable to “look at the families around her” as she enjoyed her lunch breaks in a park or on a beach.
Hume’s response to her admission?
“Uh oh,” he wrote.

Yep, big uh oh, big!
Who worked for the prosecutor to help choose the jury pool? It was an epic failure. They need to think outside the box when choosing a jury. Trained people who can read people.— jensenkdiplomat (@JRope5351525308) September 14, 2026
Wasn’t their jobs…. this jury was a complete failure. Thank God one juror stood alone against these activists…

This woman is an ignorant evil fool and she truly believes otherwise – Lord help us. She had one job – listen to the facts of this case and make judgment. If she believes she has a different instruction, she has big problems.

Actually made it worse for women and children. Now, due to lack of hormonal control, the appropriateness of women in high stress jobs will be questioned. And will children ever be safe with these moms?

There are three victims in this case and the mother isn’t one of them. Period
