Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed bragged about President Donald Trump’s criticism of him during a campaign event.
On Tuesday, he claimed that the president calling him out will just give him a “bigger platform” to share his ideas should he win his race. El-Sayed believes that he has effectively become the “main character of the midterms” because of the backlash he has received from the White House, including Vice President JD Vance.

“Trump is messing around and making me the front page or the main character of the midterms. You know what that comes with? That comes with, if I win, I now have a gigantic platform that they just gave me. And that allows me then to both move a conversation but also maneuver inside because I can move a conversation across. And I’m hoping my job is to be able to take that, advocate, and then be able to come together and sit down with colleagues who are on the ground to think about how to solve problems,” he said.
The president hasn’t been shy about his feelings for El-Sayed, encouraging voters to cast their ballots for his Republican opponent, Mike Rogers on August 5,

El-Sayed has also not made a friend of Vance, after talking about Second Lady Usha Vance on multiple occasions. The vice president channeled his inner Will Smith during a Michigan rally.
“Whatever you want to talk about, Abdul, keep my wife’s name the hell outta your mouth, because she’s way outta your league!” he said, to applause.
