Democrats have all of a sudden come out AGAINST sanctions on Russia after years of peddling their Russian collusion delusion nonsense.

Around the start of the month, the Senate passed a sweeping Russia sanctions bill that’d been championed by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.

“The bill … would issue mandatory sanctions not only on Russia’s leadership and energy sector, but also on abetters of Russia’s defense industry and so-called shadow fleet in an effort to curb the flow of cash to Moscow’s war chest,” Politico reported at the time.

Weeks later, House Democrats now appear to be fighting tooth and nail to stop the bill from becoming law.

Politico reported on Monday that the bill “is at serious risk of languishing in the House, where it is suffering from significant Democratic opposition.”

What’s their beef? Democrats allegedly fear the bill would give President Donald Trump too much additional tariff power.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters on Monday that top Democrats have expressed “strong opposition” to the bill “because it risks providing tariff and sanctions authority to Donald Trump and his administration that we believe they will abuse.”

“And so, I have some serious concerns with the legislation,” he added.

Jeffries and other House Democrats have concerns despite their hero, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, being in full support of the bill.

The concerns aren’t shared by Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

“It is a moment of extreme urgency, for the reason that Putin may try to escalate, but also because Putin is on his heels economically,” he told CBS News on Sunday. “And this kind of sanctions bill, throttling the flow of revenue to his war machine, could undercut completely his ability to wage this brutal, murderous war.”

Meanwhile, several Democrats from the House and Senate have sent a letter to the White House urging the president to impose additional sanctions on Russia without waiting for the added power that the bill would provide.

“Donald Trump already has ample authority to impose sanctions on the companies, individuals, and vessels propping up a Russian war machine that continues its deadly attacks on Ukraine,” they said. “Congress does not need to greenlight new tariff authority for the President to impose those sanctions on Russia today. Delaying sanctions makes them less effective while the Kremlin continues to expand its schemes to procure foreign technology and funding. Ukrainians need our support now.”

“We urge the President to use his broad, existing sanctions authorities to target the companies, individuals, and vessels that enable Russia’s war machine, including actors operating in or supporting any one of seventeen different sectors of the Russian economy. This is just one way the United States used to regularly sanction all types of targets to degrade Russia’s access to critical supplies and funds it needs to sustain its war on Ukraine,” they added.

The irony of all this hasn’t escaped critics.

Democrats spent years using the phony Russian collusion delusion hoax and conspiracy theory to paint the president as a secret ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Yet now that Democrats have the power to empower Trump with the tools needed to truly punish Russia, many of them have suddenly changed their tune.
