President Donald Trump lashed out at Maggie Haberman of The New York Times again on Friday over yet another instance of fake news that was published by her and her colleagues.
The fake news story from the Times on Thursday claimed the president intends to skip a 25th anniversary ceremony in honor of the Sept. 11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center because he won’t be allowed to deliver a speech at the event.
“Mr. Trump, a native New Yorker who talked often about the Sept. 11 attacks during his 2016 presidential campaign, is now expected to commemorate them at the Pentagon,” Haberman reported, adding that Vice President JD Vance will take his place at the anniversary event in New York.
NEW: Trump will not attend the annual commemoration in NYC for the 25th anniversary of 9/11, in part because he wouldn’t be allowed to give a speech. He intends to visit the Pentagon instead. W/ @maggieNYT @KannoYoungs & @danarubinstein:https://t.co/V6Lm9ZrGj4 via @NYTimes

The report from Haberman and crew infuriated the president, who took to his social media platform Truth Social to complain about it.
“Maggot Hagerman, the Fake Reporter from The Failing New York Times, an unattractive person both inside and out, and who knows less about me than most reporters on the beat (She’s a SCAMMER!), made up a story that on September 11th, I’m not going to the World Trade Center, in New York City, because they won’t let me make a speech, and I’m going to the Pentagon in D.C., because I’m a featured speaker,” the president wrote.
“This is more Corrupt News, I’ve been to New York many times over the years, and no one ever speaks, it’s a ‘solemn ceremony!’ I never even thought of what Maggot made up, and besides, I would love not to speak, because I’m speaking all the time, and this is a day to remember the victims, and their beautiful family members,” he added.
Trump continued by bringing up his ongoing legal battle with the Times. The president filed a defamation suit against the paper in September of 2025, accusing several reporters of defaming him with actual malice.
“Maggot Hagerman is a PHONY, and The New York Times knows it! It will all be revealed in the lawsuit against them, and another lawsuit against the organization which gives out the now discredited Pulitzer Prize, because Maggie got one for her ‘reporting’ on THE RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA HOAX, which turned out to be a total CON JOB!” the president wrote.
“If she were ever forced to reveal her ‘sources,’ you will find out they either don’t exist, or didn’t say what she reported. She’s been falsely writing about me for years — She’s a stalker, and should be forced to turn over any and all money that she’s made through her fake reporting on me. President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he concluded.
Keep in mind the 2025 defamation suit didn’t include Haberman.

This latest incident comes four years after Trump first coined the nickname “Maggot” for Haberman after she published a book about him called “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.”
“Here we go again! Another Fake book is out, this one, supposedly very boring and stale, by self appointed head case, Failing (unfunded liability!) New York Times writer, Maggie Hagerman,” he wrote on Truth Social at the time.
“In it she tells many made up stories, with zero fact checking or confirmation by anyone who would know, like me. In one case she lies about me wanting to fire my daughter, Ivanka, and Jared. WRONG, pure fiction. Never even crossed my mind. Just have to fight trouble making creeps like Maggie, and all the rest!” he added.
