House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is facing the wrath of the far left over a reported secret meeting with Jared Kushner.
On Sunday, The New York Times published a report claiming the pair had met in New York, where they “discussed potential areas of common ground.” The authors of the piece noted that the “timing underscored that those around Mr. Trump were well aware of the likelihood of a Democratic-led House, and trying to foster as much of a working relationship as possible before any change.”
“The private get-together was described by one of the people as a catch-up for Mr. Kushner and Mr. Jeffries,” the article reads. “The two men have stayed in touch since they worked together on a criminal justice bill midway through Mr. Trump’s first term. During the recent meeting, the pair discussed housing, immigration and the high cost of living as potential areas of common ground. Mr. Kushner suggested that Mr. Jeffries should meet with the White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, two people with knowledge of the meeting said.”
While this would be considered normal, cordial behavior at any other point in history, progressives are treating it as a betrayal.
Look:
Jared Kushner has no actual government job he just uses his family connections to get money from gulf autocrats and fund corrupt deals. The only way @RepJeffries should work with him is with demands for documents and subpoenas. https://t.co/5dBHVHW0CT

Jeffries is never beating the allegations, and doesn’t appear to have any interest in trying to. https://t.co/GdDNj3XmHQ

But would never meet privately with, say, the leaders of the DSA https://t.co/8g5ffGLmEG

@RepJeffries when Democratic voters are polled and say our leaders on the left are too weak, this is precisely what they are meaning. Meeting with a criminal who has assisted in the coverup of the murder and dismembering of a Washington Post journalist is not only weak, it is… https://t.co/1ZXLUTLHZm

.@repjeffries is abdicating his duty to the people by meeting with unelected, unvetted Jared Kushner and treating him like a diplomat instead of a cog in a criminal . Kushner is part of the usurpation of our government. https://t.co/drSAnhtBYh

As usual, Jeffries is doing his part to make sure Democrats lose as many races as possible this cycle. Trump and the Republican Party would not be in power without the cooperation of the so called “opposition”. https://t.co/kDDRFkUs0M
