Asylum seekers are being given a nine-page booklet produced by the UK Home Office which outlines such basic norms of a Western country as the fact that rape is against the law and that women are able to earn money, travel and even go out in public without the permission of a man. The booklet, which was distributed to the male arrivals at a processing center, also explains that making kissing noises at strangers in the street is not acceptable.

The Home Office publication came as the UK is on a “severe” national security threat level, with small-boat crossings from France putting further pressure on the beleaguered asylum system. A Home Office spokesperson told GB News: “We expect everyone who comes to the UK to abide by our laws.

If they do not, they will face consequences, including removal.” The returns of failed asylum seekers have reached their highest level since 2010. But it has been seized on by government critics, who point out that the guide exists in the first place because of the failure of policy to prevent the arrival of large numbers of people from countries where the sort of behavior detailed in the manual is the norm.

And so in Parliament yesterday, the manual caused quite a lot of upset, with one opposition minister after another making essentially the same point: that the existence of this guide is proof that the government has lost control of the borders and of the vast numbers of people arriving here in search of asylum. The Home Office has not revealed how many people have been given the booklet, or in what languages it has been published.

The guide details women’s rights at work, what constitutes consent, laws surrounding domestic abuse and lastly basic behavior expected in public places of people of all ages.
