Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of La France Insoumise — the largest far-left party in France — has said the quiet part out loud.
“If you’re counting on white Christian workers to bring about socialism in France, it won’t happen. But our Muslim brothers and sisters will.”
That is not a slip. That is a strategy.
Mélenchon has spent years cultivating France’s Muslim voting bloc as the new revolutionary vanguard — a replacement for the working class that the French left lost decades ago to economic reality. In the 2022 presidential election, 69 percent of Muslim voters in France cast their ballot for Mélenchon. His party has since openly recruited “racialized” candidates, with LFI politicians explicitly calling on banlieue residents to vote for people “who look like us.” His alignment with Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Iranian regime since October 2023 is not a coincidence — it is a constituency play.
The left in France no longer believes it can win on ideas. It has decided it will win on demography.
This is not unique to France. The same coalition is being built across Western Europe and inside the United States — progressive political machines increasingly dependent on mass immigration from majority-Muslim countries to deliver electoral margins that a shrinking native working class cannot. The policy agenda follows the coalition: open borders, suppression of speech that criticizes Islam, alignment with Islamist foreign policy interests, and the deliberate displacement of the Christian cultural framework that built Western civilization.
Mélenchon’s remarks are notable not because they reveal something new, but because he said it plainly. Western political establishments have built this coalition quietly for thirty years. The French left has apparently decided the project is far enough along that the mask no longer needs to stay on.
The Iranians tried this in 1979. The left allied with Islamists to bring down the Shah — and then watched the Islamists liquidate them. Mélenchon either does not know that history or believes the outcome will be different this time.
It won’t be.
