President Donald Trump announced Thursday what his administration is calling a historic breakthrough: a deal brokered by the U.S.-led Board of Peace for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. If it holds, it would mark the most significant shift in the Gaza conflict since the October 2025 ceasefire — and it is almost entirely the result of sustained American pressure, most notably the ongoing military campaign against Iran.
“Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza,” Trump declared on Truth Social. “This is a monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY.” Trump directly credited the Iran war as the forcing function: “That shows you how much success we’re having with Iran, because if you went four months ago or five months ago, a deal like that would have been impossible.”
The framework — mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey alongside the U.S. Board of Peace — calls for Hamas to surrender weapons in exchange for a phased Israeli troop withdrawal from Gaza. A verification committee will oversee disarmament, with weapons transferred to a new Palestinian administration under international supervision. As Israeli forces pull back, an International Stabilization Force and a new Palestinian police unit would assume responsibility for security in the territory.
The mainstream media’s instinct has been to immediately pivot to caveats and uncertainty — and to be fair, significant complications remain. Hamas officials have stated disarmament is contingent on Israel first implementing ceasefire commitments from Phase 1, which contradicts Trump’s framing that disarmament triggers withdrawal. An Israeli airstrike wounded Palestinians in Gaza hours after the deal was announced, and Israeli officials say troops will not pull back without “genuine” verified disarmament. Israel has also made clear it rejects any deal that mentions the establishment of a Palestinian state — a condition Hamas has flagged as non-negotiable.
What the media is burying is the structural reality that made this deal possible at all: Iran, Hamas’s primary state sponsor and weapons pipeline, is under unprecedented military and economic pressure from the U.S.-Israeli campaign. Severed supply chains and degraded Iranian capacity have materially changed Hamas’s strategic calculus. As the Conservative Treehouse noted, the inclusion of Turkey and Egypt as mediators — providing “pragmatic insurance” from the Palestinian perspective — was itself a diplomatic achievement that softened Hamas’s resistance to the framework (Conservative Treehouse, July 31, 2026).
The deal also reflects Trump’s broader 20-Point Plan for Middle East stabilization. For the America First movement, the takeaway is clear: strength — not appeasement — produced this opening. The previous Biden administration spent years offering concessions to Tehran while Hamas stockpiled weapons. Trump’s pressure campaign — military, economic, and diplomatic — achieved in months what years of globalist negotiation could not even approach. Whether Israel and Hamas can navigate the competing sequencing demands will determine whether this becomes a genuine turning point or another diplomatic announcement that unravels in the field.
