U.S. Central Command has carried out and completed a third wave of strikes against Iranian targets in recent days, building on operations from July 7 and 8.

The latest round targeted additional military infrastructure to degrade Iran’s capacity to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Strikes hit air defenses, missile/drone sites, coastal radar, naval assets, and logistics facilities along the coastline.

This follows two prior rounds: one on July 7 striking over 80 targets (including dozens of IRGC small boats) and another on July 8 hitting approximately 90 sites. The actions respond to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels, which Washington says violated the ceasefire.

President Trump declared the ceasefire “over” prior to the escalation. Iran has reported explosions in southern provinces and vowed retaliation, including strikes on U.S. positions in the Gulf.

CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. forces remain postured for further operations to protect freedom of navigation. No U.S. casualties reported. The situation continues to develop with risks of broader regional fallout.

At 7:15 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces began launching the third round of strikes this week against Iran after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces blatantly attacked M/V GFS Galaxy, a Cyprus-flagged container ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz. A civilian crew member is missing and the vessel is unable to continue the journey due to an onboard fire and significant engineroom damage.

Iran was provided yet another opportunity to demonstrate adherence to the Memorandum of Understanding after being held accountable for earlier attacks on commercial vessels but has again failed.

In response, the United States is imposing a heavy cost by continuing to degrade Iran’s ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the strait. The strikes are being carried out at the direction of the Commander in Chief.
