Fox News’ Jessica Tarlov posted a July 4th message that didn’t land well with patriots on social media.

The left is having a difficult time loving their country under President Donald Trump’s second term, but they also have a long-term problem of reflexively apologizing for celebrating the United States. There can be no pride without the addition of mentioning the country’s “faults” or past events, perhaps as a means of not appearing too enthusiastic about loving their homeland. Tarlov found herself caught in this same cycle on Saturday, when she tried to wish Americans a happy 4th of July.

Look:

“Happy Independence Day!! For all her faults, no better nation and so lucky to be born an American,” she wrote. “And if you’re at the fair – and I see a lot of you are! – have fun and stay hydrated.”

Imagine going to your friend’s birthday party, or their wedding, and saying something like “for all their faults, there is no better friend and so lucky to be their friend!” It’s going to sound like the backhanded compliment it is, and you’ll likely never be invited to anything they host in the future.

The natural inclination to apologize for the greatest country in the world didn’t escape the notice of X users:
