Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has presided over the destruction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in favor of a new state-sponsored church, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine…CCP style. Zelenskiy is supporting a state-controlled religion, just as communists have done throughout history.
Orthodox priests continue to be beaten, churches stolen, closed, burned across the country.
Yet incredulously, recently after the fire at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Zelenskiy tried to take credit for saving Christianity in Ukraine. He’s lying.

The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (also known as the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves) is the oldest and most significant monastic complex in Ukraine, founded in 1051 by Saint Anthony of Kyiv. Located in the Pechersk district of Kyiv, it is a premier center of Eastern Orthodox Christianity and a UNESCO World Heritage Site designated in 1990.
Zelensky preached recently at the site of the damage, “The wounded churches of Ukraine—attacked by evil, scarred by Russian bullets, shattered by guided bombs and missiles.
“Great cathedrals in our largest cities, and small churches in our villages. Churches, mosques, synagogues—740 religious sites across Ukraine have been struck by Putin.
“That is who we are fighting. That is what our enemy is.”
It is unclear whose projectile started the fire. The Russian government would have no benefit to destroying a church that Zelenskiy has shut down, unless the Ukrainians were storing military gear there. Zelenskiy famously raided the tombs of the relics below the structure and looted the site with his police last year. It is likely a Ukrainian air defense system downed a drone and debris fell to the ground and started the fire.
Zelenskiy controlled priest Father Valentyn Horokhovskyi said,” Every day I witness the grief and suffering that Russia has brought through its war. While speaking about “Holy Rus” and the defense of Orthodoxy, the enemy destroys churches and kills people. I see it with my own eyes. I live among these ruins in Kherson.”
Zelensky added, “Thirty years ago, Ukrainians stopped living under the old—and above all, someone else’s—law. They began building a new life, their own life, on new foundations and new principles. The foremost of those principles is Ukraine’s right to be itself: sovereign, indivisible, and independent. These are the fundamental principles of our Constitution.”
Don’t let Zelenskiy and his thugs get away with it. This is not Christianity. This is dictatorship.
