Jayapal pushes bonkers claims that MAGA is upset over ending Haitian TPS

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Washington, engaged in some admittedly impressive mental gymnastics on the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) issue.

In a 6-3 decision in Mullin v. Doe, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the “temporary” part of TPS actually means something and President Donald Trump’s administration can end the status. This would impact hundreds of thousands of Haitians and Syrians who have been living in the United States on a “temporary” basis, and naturally this upset Democrats.

Jayapal specifically is claiming that Republicans who voted for the president are against such actions in their own communities, though it’s not clear where she’s getting her information.

Watch:

“I would say that members of Trump’s own base, across the country, Republicans who voted for Trump understand that this immigration agenda is not good for their communities,” she said.

To be clear, Trump’s 2024 presidential run wasn’t just successful because Democrats ran former President Joe Biden until his cognitive decline was impossible to cover up, then substituted the woefully unprepared former VP Kamala Harris. It was because Americans decided that he would be a better leader, especially on matters concerning the never-ending wave of humanity coming in uncontested from other countries. As middle-class families found themselves increasingly struggling to pay bills, put food on the table, and support the dreams of their children, Trump promised to turn things around by putting an end to the forced empathy that was draining taxpayer pockets.

So it’s no surprise that X users are having a difficult time believing that Jayapal suddenly has inside information on MAGA beliefs:
