‘Don’t you point your finger at me!’ Mullin blasts Dem DeLauro for selective outrage on migrant kids

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin testified on his agency’s operations before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, and things got heated when a Democrat rolled out the party’s fallback talking points about children being separated at the border — an issue the party only seems to care about when there is a Republican in the White House.

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) claimed 3,900 kids were separated from their families, the figure coming from a 2021 report from the federal Family Reunification Task Force, but Mullins had little patience for stale talking points from a fumbling 83-year-old lawmaker with purple hair.

Mullin interrupted to expose the lawmaker’s hypocrisy, saying, “450,000 kids were lost under the Biden administration, and you didn’t say a word about that.”

“Mr. Secretary, Mr. Secretary, do not interrupt,” the flustered Democratic lawmaker replied, jabbing her finger in his direction.

“Don’t you point your finger at me,” Mullin fired back.

“I will point my finger at you,” DeLauro answered.

“Don’t be a hypocrite. You should be as upset about the 450,000 kids that were lost [under Biden],” Mullin pressed, before adding, “You didn’t say a word about it. For four years, you never said a word.”

Thoroughly outclassed, DeLauro appealed to Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.), the subcommittee chair, to put Mullins “in his place.”

“You should be put in your place,” the secretary shot back.

After Amodei called for order, Mullin said, “I will not sit here and listen to her lie and accuse something this ridiculous.”

When DeLauro said, “Do not accuse me of lying, do not,” Mullin retorted, “Then don’t.”
