The gauntlet was thrown down Tuesday as Megyn Kelly dared a daytime talk show to host slain high schooler Austin Metcalf’s father if they “have any heart or spine whatsoever.”

This month, Karmelo Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the April 2025 murder of 17-year-old Metcalf at a school track meet in Frisco, Texas. National coverage invoked race-related talking points, including from ABC’s “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin, prompting Kelly to challenge the fellow attorney and her “willful misinformation” to face the victim’s father directly.

At the onset of her SiriusXM program, “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the host shared a series of clips from Monday’s installment of “The View” as well as a reaction from Jeff Metcalf during his own appearance on Fox News’ “The Will Cain Show.”

Following the father’s own insistence that the ladies invited him to their table, Kelly reacted, “Oh, do it. I dare you. Do it. If those women of ‘The View’ have any spine whatsoever, they’ll do it. They’ll take him out. This is a grieving dad of an actual murder victim at 17 years old, and he’s offering to come on your show and talk truth about what happened in this case.”

As had been reported, Will Cain spared Metcalf from having to watch a clip of Hostin, who’d shared her beliefs that Anthony had acted in self-defense and that the trial had not included a jury of the murderer’s peers because it did not have black members.

In response, the father accused those making claims about the case and his family of trying to “monetize the death” of his son. Metcalf said of Hostin, “She is completely wrong, and if they want to take me in, call me, ask me to be on ‘The View’ with them, I would gladly. Fly me up there and let me talk to all of you.”

The dare wasn’t all Kelly had to say about the former federal prosecutor, as she also accused Hostin of spouting “willful misinformation on her part, meant to push a racial agenda that she has that ABC has been allowing for far too long.”

While shared clips of Hostin’s comments on “The View” were hit with numerous fact checks, Kelly also offered her own as she responded directly to the claim that Anthony would somehow have a case for an appeal based on the fact that the jury did not include black members.

“I’m sorry, but that is a blatant misstatement of the law,” she told her SiriusXM audience. “As [Hostin] knows, the Supreme Court has specifically held that you have no right to have individuals of your same race on your jury. That’s black letter law now. She knows that. Why is she doing this? Why is she saying that?”
