So much for this crime prevention tactic in sometimes lawless New Orleans…

While a gang was breaking into vehicles in Uptown New Orleans late at night, they came upon a pickup truck in the dark with a scary-looking figure inside. It was a mannequin wearing a Michael Myers mask from the Halloween films.

The result however wasn’t anticipated: several shots were fired at the vehicle with over 20 bullet holes in the truck. Two other vehicles were also hit.

Unsurprisingly in New Orleans, at the time of reporting, there were no arrests in the case.

The location of the incident took place near Tulane University, in the elite tier of pricey schools. (See the site on Google Maps.) I suppose a cost of tuition, shared dormitory, and food plan in 2025-26 at $91,628 is a bargain for some.

The action film and violent drama around campus is however offered up at no additional charge.

Long ago I studied at Tulane for a bit with a partial scholarship when it wasn’t so outrageously expensive. Over six students died that year, on and off campus, and EVERYONE I knew had gotten mugged at least once, it seemed. But Mardi Gras and the partying were fantastic.
