High schooler ‘overjoyed’ with response after mailing graduation announcement to Trump

A high school student was moved to tears of joy as she opened the White House’s response to the graduation announcement she had mailed to President Donald Trump.

A now-viral video captured the moment the teen opened the large envelope she reportedly received from the White House and her emotional reaction to the contents, which included a signed photo of the president.

The video, posted originally on TikTok by the account “truckingalongwithtay,” captured hearts on social media, including that of White House press secretary Karoline Leaviitt, who shared it with a smiling emoji.

“This is the long-awaited what the White House sent me. My mom woke me up at 6 a.m. to film this, the high school graduate said in the video as she held up the envelope.

“Let’s see what’s in it,” she said as she pulled out a letter that appeared to be on White House letterhead.

“Got a little note, congrats on your graduation,” she explained before pulling out the signed photo of Trump, which immediately made her tear up. “Oh my God!”

“You can frame it. Put it in your apartment,” the off-camera voice, presumably her mother, suggested.

She wrapped up the moment by pulling out a photo of Vice President J.D. Vance and then displaying them both for the camera.

Just last month, the White House promoted the presidential greetings program, encouraging to “Celebrate life’s most meaningful moments with a message from the President.”

Births, birthdays, graduations, weddings, retirements and more milestones are suggested topics to share with the president in the longstanding tradition.

Meanwhile, the graduation response video warmed the hearts of many on social media as the simple gesture was applauded as “thoughtful” and “personal.” Many X users were motivated to send in their own greeting requests.
