Democrat National Committee (DNC) chair Ken Martin is facing backlash over his lack of transparency about the party’s problems.
After Martin took over as DNC chief last year, he ordered an “autopsy” to determine why the party got trounced in the 2024 presidential election.
Yet following the autopsy’s conclusion, he refused to release the report to the public, claiming that the party had already learned its lessons.

“We completed a comprehensive review of what happened in 2024 and are already putting our learnings into motion. And we’re winning again — even in places that haven’t gone blue in decades,” he said in a statement, as reported by NBC News.
“In our conversations with stakeholders from across the Democratic ecosystem, we are aligned on what’s important, and that’s learning from the past and winning the future. Here’s our North Star: does this help us win? If the answer is no, it’s a distraction from the core mission,” he added.
Months later, Martin was questioned about the autopsy report during an interview Tuesday with leftist podcaster Jon Favreau.
“NBC News said that before Easter about a month ago, you told DNC officers on a call to expect an executive summary in short order,” Favreau noted to the DNC chair.
“I feel like an autopsy on what went wrong when we lost the popular vote in all those states in 2024 and figuring out what went wrong based on a big report is pretty important for everyone to know. When can people expect an executive summary [of the autopsy]?” he then asked.
Will Martin at least release an Executive Summary of the autopsy report, as reported by @NBCNews?
“We’ve been releasing it.”

“John, we’ve already been sharing that with a number of folks and we’ll continue to share it with folks, including the DNC and other people,” Martin replied. “The reality is, is we’re not hiding the ball on this.”
“We have been sharing those things out. There’s no smoking gun here. And as much as people would like to keep focusing in on those pieces, what they’re ignoring is that we’re sharing out the lessons. We have been incorporating those and we have actually been putting those lessons into action, which I’m most proud of,” he added.
His answers did not impress leftists in the general public.

Nothing screams transparency like secrecy.

OMG!!! Will Martin is ridiculous!!! He sounds like a complete idiot in your interview! I could only handle 10 minutes before wanting to pull my hair out. How did the DNC vote him in?!!

Cool. Well those of us independents will either vote for another party or not vote at all. The lack of transparency about why this party lost will only make people sit the next election out.

The reticence, shadiness, and hesitancy to release anything makes me really curious as to what horrible things are in that report. It’s truly bizarre to withhold important information that might help any campaigns going forward.

I’ve heard some bad interviews before, but this was awful. I could have spent 30 minute saying “lessons we’ve learned”, and there’s “No smoking gun.” Here’s what I heard: we don’t want to share how little faith our own supporters expressed in us.” That was an awful interview.

Even Rotimi Adeoye, an opinion writer for the far-left New York Times, joined in the chorus of complaints.
“See, the mistake the DNC made is they could’ve released the report earlier in the spring, whatever’s in it, you get two weeks of bad publicity, then Trump does something stupid and everyone forgets,” she tweeted.
“Now it feels like something’s being hidden, which makes it way more salacious,” she continued.
“Democrats are allergic to accountability,” Sen. Bernie Sanders’ former 2020 presidential campaign national press secretary Briahna Joy Gray added in a tweet of her own.
