A Republican candidate for mayor in California lit up social media with a campaign ad that has many convinced he could win the Los Angeles race.
Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt has the odds stacked against him as a Republican aiming to become the next mayor of Los Angeles, but a campaign ad that dropped on Wednesday seems to have added wind to his sails.
“I’m telling you this guy is going to win,” Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, wrote on X.
This is one of the most compelling ads that I have ever seen from our side https://t.co/5TkAwDtczy

The 30-second clip seemed to resonate with many, especially Angelenos living under incumbent Mayor Karen Bass (D), in the aftermath of the devastating and destructive Pacific Palisades fires.
“This is where Mayor Bass lives. You notice something? Or here, where Nithya Raman’s three-million-dollar mansion sits,” Pratt says in the opening of the video, outside of Bass’s home, then that of Los Angeles city councilmember Nithya Raman, who is running for mayor.
“They don’t have to live in the mess they’ve created, where you live,” Pratt continues in the clip, which has racked up more than seven million views on X.
“This is where I live,” he says before a mobile home. “They let my home burn down.”
“I know what the consequences of failed leadership are. That’s why I’m running for mayor, for my sons and the rest of us Angelenos that want to stop these corrupt politicians from destroying our city,” he concluded. “We are going to get the Golden Age of Los Angeles back.”
Last week, Pratt dropped a cheeky “house tour” of his temporary residence, “thanks to Karen Bass.”

The Los Angeles mayoral election is nonpartisan, as Pratt noted earlier this year, confirming that he was registered as a Republican.
“I registered Republican in 2020 and never changed it. And I wasn’t going to change it now just to check a different box,” he wrote on X. “This is a non-partisan race – there will be no D or R next to my name. As Mayor, I will not serve either party. I will work with anyone who wants to help the City. No labels necessary.”
I’ve been in the public eye most of my life and there isn’t any dirt you can find on me that hasn’t already been aired. Seems like the only thing people don’t know is my voter registration, so here go: I registered Republican in 2020 and never changed it. And I wasn’t going to…

Pratt’s latest campaign ad hit its mark, earning plenty of praise on X.
This is the best political ad I’ve ever seen.

One of the greatest political ads I’ve seen in a very long time.
Down to earth. Clear willingness to work hard.
Dichotomy between “them” and “us” is amazing…
…those who POSTURE, vs those who have to live with the consequences of their posturing
10/10 no notes.

If someone had told me 20 years ago that my two favorite people would be Donald Trump from The Apprentice and Spencer Pratt from The Hills I would have said they were nuts, but here we are.
