Sen. Marsha Blackburn Demands Biden Take Action Against China

Senator Marsha Blackburn, member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and staunch conservative, recently slammed Biden’s weakness in the face of foreign aggression on Just the News’s John Solomon podcast, demanding that he take stronger action against China and Russia.

During the terrific interview, she said “I was so surprised that there was not something more forceful that he would do, and that he would just say, ‘Well, we’re going to do a diplomatic boycott,‘” speaking of Biden’s weak-kneed “diplomatic boycott” of the Olympics in response to China’s genocide of the Uighurs.

Like many people with a brain, she realizes that the Chinese don’t care they’ll no longer be able to take a picture with Mayor Pete during the Olympics. Stronger actions are needed, especially if we are to deter Red China from invading Taiwan.

Such stronger actions should consist of sanctions against Chinese tech companies, doing whatever is necessary to financially punish them by keeping them out of the US supply chain. In her words:

I would start with Huawei. And that is someplace that we need to look at, all of these Chinese telecommunication companies, ZTE, Huawei, these companies and just say, no, we’re not going to do business with them. And then follow it very closely with some of these companies that are doing electric vehicle batteries, and that are doing some of these transmission components and just say, no, we’re not wanting to bring these into our supply chain. Not now, not ever.”

Similarly, when speaking of Putin’s massing of troops in preparation for a potential invasion of Ukraine, she said:

“One of the things that we should do is sanctions, and begin to look at the importance of economic sanctions, trade sanctions, sanctioning Russian oligarchs. When you look at the weakness there with Putin, another thing when it comes to dealing with China, what you have to do is let them know that we are watching them, and we are not going to be putting up with this.”

As it’s not particularly clear that Russia is planning on invading Ukraine, it’s likely that Sen. Blackburn’s China comments will prove to be more popular, especially because the threat it poses to America and her interests is far larger than the threat posed by Russia, a country with an economy about the size of the Texas economy.

Still, however, Blackburn shows the sort of backbone that is required for dealing with foreign adversaries. Joe, a politician suspected of having corrupt ties to China, must grow a backbone and start doing whatever is necessary to force America’s opponents to back down. In that, Sen. Blackburn is certainly right.
