Pollster Nate Silver says the writing is already on the wall as Americans head to the polls for midterm elections.<\/p>\n

For the Republican Party, it\u2019s all over but the crying. At least that\u2019s what Silver argued on Monday\u2019s episode of the\u00a0Still Counting<\/em> podcast. Speaking to co-hosts Galen Drake and Clare Malone, he said the numbers just aren\u2019t there for the GOP to have a \u201cgood night.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor Republicans to have a good night, like something we don\u2019t recognize in the known universe would have to happen, and again they could have a pretty bad night and maybe hold the Senate,\u201d he said, when asked for his final thoughts on the midterms.<\/p>\n

\u201cLess likely but within the boundary of sanity, right? But like what\u2019s a single good indicator for Republicans apart from the fact that their people seem to answer polls less often? That\u2019s not even a good indicator,\u201d Silver added. \u201cIt also can mean very low voter enthusiasm. I thought it was interesting that The Washington Post<\/em> found this big voter enthusiasm gap and who\u2019s responding to its polls in Kansas, where the hard data on early voting also shows the biggest gap.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wonder if the Trump voters \u2014 we\u2019ll see on Tuesday, right? \u2014 the Trump voters show up and we have a competitive Senate race leaning down slightly, right? Republicans don\u2019t show up, and you have a f**king epic landslide. And flippers are kind of stuck halfway between those, I guess,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Sitting down with Miranda Devine\u2019s\u00a0Pod Force One<\/em>, Trump revealed the strategy he would adopt if his political opponents were to regain power in the House and\/or Senate. He says he will simply flex his veto muscles.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, if [Democrats are elected,] I\u2019ll become Mr. Veto,\u201d he admitted. \u201cAnd then at some point we\u2019ll probably make deals; that\u2019s what\u2019s happened. This wouldn\u2019t be the first time. You\u2019ll have a president, and you won\u2019t have the House or the Senate; they\u2019ll be sending stuff up, you veto it, and eventually, after a month or two of getting all vetoed, they\u2019re just wasting [time], they come over, and you make a deal. I think that would probably happen, but hopefully we don\u2019t have to worry about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
