New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is under fire for a video that reportedly \u201copenly\u201d helps illegal aliens dodge ICE.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the mayor shared a video in which he details \u201cwhat every New Yorker should know\u201d if they come into contact with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Interestingly, he spoke in Spanish during the clip.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you encounter ICE, these are your rights,\u201d he said. \u201cFirst, ICE cannot legally enter private spaces without a judicial order. These spaces include your home, hospitals, and private areas of your workplace. In a document, look for the words \u2018United States District Court\u2019 and a judge\u2019s signature. You can ask the officers to pass the order under the door. If they don\u2019t have a judicial order, you can leave the door closed and say, \u2018I do not consent to your entry.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSecond, you have the right to remain silent. If ICE stops you on the street, ask \u2018Am I free to go?\u2019 If the agent says yes, walk away calmly,\u201d his instruction continued. \u201cSpeak with a lawyer before signing any documents or making any decisions about your immigration status or case.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThird, you are not alone. Anyone can call the city\u2019s immigration legal support line at 1-800-354-0365 regardless of their immigration status. The call is free and confidential, and available in your native language,\u201d Mamdani added. \u201cYou can also call 311 and say \u2018immigration legal.\u2019 The city, including local police, do not assist in the enforcement of civil immigration law. One last thing, the Constitution grants you the right to protest and we will protect that right. These are very frightening times for many people, but as your mayor I will fight every day to protect, support, and celebrate our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
