The Ilhan Omar plot has thickened as it now appears that the Somalia-born congresswoman may not only have committed fraud to obtain her U.S.\u00a0 citizenship but may also have been using a false name.<\/p>\n

Fox News Digital has learned that the Minnesota Democrat\u2019s \u201creal name\u201d is not Ilhan Omar, but actually Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, two sources familiar with the federal investigation into the \u201cSquad\u201d member told<\/a> the conservative news outlet, one of them a member of law enforcement.<\/p>\n

If it were to be proven in court that the leftist lawmaker has been living her \u201centire life under an alias,\u201d every form that she has ever filled out could potentially be \u201ccalled into question,\u201d according to a former Minnesota federal immigration judge.<\/p>\n

BREAKING: Two sources familiar with the criminal investigation into Ilhan Omar confirmed to Fox News Digital that the congresswoman\u2019s \u201creal name\u201d is actually Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.<\/p>\n

The motion says the federal government is not yet finished executing the search warrant, and that it shouldn\u2019t be unsealed yet,\u201d Fox News Digital reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore the Court are three Applications to unseal ex parte materials and proceedings related to a federal search warrant for the personal residence in the District of Columbia of Congresswoman Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a\/k\/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar\u2026\u201d the motion reads.<\/p>\n

When asked why the document referred to \u201ca\/k\/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar,\u201d one of the sources told the outlet, \u201cThat\u2019s not her real name.\u201d<\/p>\n

Disqualifying? President Donald J. Trump thinks so.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is completely false. Ilhan Omar is her real name,\u201d an Omar spokesperson told Fox News.<\/p>\n

Nathan Hansen, the former federal immigration judge, explained the potential ramifications if Omar has been using a false name.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou think of all the types of documents somebody like her might have filled out,\u201d he told Fox News Digital. \u201cThere\u2019d be federal student loan and student aid applications, maybe federal housing related applications, maybe public assistance applications, passport applications, passport information and driver\u2019s license information, Real I.D. information [and] voting information.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also suggested that the ethically-challenged congresswoman could be subjected to criminal charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes they might say that that would be a wire fraud charge, they always add that one,\u201d Hansen said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s pretty broad. But, you know, a lot of these documents are sworn under penalty of perjury.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf this is not, like, a real legal name, it\u2019s got some legal backing to it that every type of government form she\u2019s filled out in her entire existence might be called into question,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The \u201cfake name\u201d controversy comes as Omar is already embroiled in a federal investigation over whether she obtained her citizenship under fraudulent pretenses, which, if proven, could lead to her being denaturalized and sent back to Somalia.<\/p>\n
