Significantly, <strong>Chinese Premier Li Qiang <\/strong>is second-highest-ranking official in the country&#8217;s Communist Party (CCP) hierarchy, under President Xi Jinping. He&#8217;s meeting with Putin just after the Witkoff summit<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">Footage from St. Petersburg&#8217;s Constantine Palace, where Putin is receiving Chinese Premier Li Qiang. Earlier today, the Russian president met Trump\u2019s envoy, Steve Witkoff, at the very same location. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lUcKxvBMl9\">https:\/\/t.co\/lUcKxvBMl9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brian McDonald (@BrianMcDonaldIE) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BrianMcDonaldIE\/status\/2112896685592723642?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 21, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Putin aide Yury Ushakov has in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.interfax.ru\/world\/1124019\">comments to reporters<\/a> <strong>revealed that China has already begun preparing a trilateral meeting<\/strong> among the leaders of Russia, the US and China.<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that could happen on the <strong>sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit<\/strong> in Shenzhen\u00a0&#8220;if circumstances are favorable.&#8221;\u00a0<strong>This would be in just under a month<\/strong>, scheduled for November 17-18, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Ushakov <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/politics\/articles\/kremlin-claims-china-already-preparing-143700415.html\">said<\/a>: &#8220;Our Chinese friends, who are hosting the APEC summit, will deal or rather are already dealing with its [the trilateral meeting] preparation. I think he doesn&#8217;t want to stop it. I want to see people not die.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>President Trump has meanwhile suggested that any future trilateral meeting would also focus on nuclear proliferation issues.
