Judge Ana Reyes ended a nearly seven-hour hearing by backing off from a previous demand.<\/p>\n

The Biden-appointed judge is currently handling a legal dispute between President Donald Trump\u2019s administration and a group suing to halt the removal of hundreds of trees on a federally owned golf course. She had previously invoked Rule 11, \u201cwhich requires attorneys to stand behind the factual basis of court filings and can subject them to sanctions for violations,\u201d after two social media posts from the president allegedly conflicted with a previous filing indicating that there was \u201cno agency action\u201d on the golf course plan.<\/p>\n

Reyes demanded that Department of Justice attorneys file their names alongside Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward Jr.\u2019s Sunday filing, but after a nearly seven-hour hearing on Monday, she caved.<\/p>\n

\u201cLate breaking news, I\u2019m going to withdraw the request that DOJ refile yesterday\u2019s brief with identification of who signed it. We\u2019ve all got better things to spend our time on,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

This comes after the president laid into her on Truth Social, calling her a \u201ccrazed lunatic.\u201d As BizPac Review previously reported, Trump\u2019s attempt to improve the course quickly hit a snag when conservationists, golfers, and even the D.C. Preservation League filed a lawsuit over the trees being removed. Reyes became a target of the president\u2019s wrath after reportedly screaming<\/a> at DOJ lawyers.<\/p>\n
