Missiles fired by the Iran-aligned Houthi group struck the international airport in Yemen\u2019s Aden on Friday night, with two of the missiles landing inside the grounds of the airport, according to a statement by Aden\u2019s security administration late on Friday, reported Xinhua. Although there were no reports of any casualties in the attack, a third missile hit a military base near the Saudi-led coalition\u2019s headquarters in the Al Buraiqa district of western Aden, and three explosions were heard throughout the city. The attack was the second to target the airport within a week of each other. A Yemenia Airways flight that was preparing to take off for a flight to Cairo was also affected by the attack.<\/p>\n

The Iran-backed Houthi group said that it targeted the \u201cheadquarters of the Saudi forces and the stores of weapons at the Badr military camp near Aden International Airport\u201d. Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition said that it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired towards Yanbu, a Red Sea port that serves as a key oil export terminal for Saudi Arabia. In addition to the missile, the coalition said that it destroyed two cruise missiles fired over the Red Sea as well as three drones over the country\u2019s southern region and the capital Riyadh. A fourth drone was reportedly launched towards the Eastern Province and destroyed as well.<\/p>\n

The attacks on the Al-Ma\u2019ashiq compound, which is part of the Presidential Palace in Aden, killed 5 people and wounded another 16 or so on Thursday. Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani was not harmed in the attack. Coalition said that Houthi attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed 17 people and wounded more than 330 since October 1.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Foreign Ministry declares it is willing to help Riyadh and Houthis to find a solution to their differences if both sides so request. Tehran has categorically rejected the allegations that it has directed Houthi aggression against Saudi Arabia. <\/p>\n

This claim by Tehran does not seem credible as Iran’s connections to the Houthis has been extensively reported.<\/p>\n
