CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper has stars in his eyes for a fledgling journalist after a video of her confronting an angry Republican went viral.<\/p>\n

The video of Cat Murphy, a University of Maryland graduate student who reports for the school\u2019s Capital News Service, shows GOP Rep. Andy Harris falsely accusing her of recording him without permission.<\/p>\n

She doesn\u2019t need permission, and the exchange quickly went viral:<\/p>\n

Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night.<\/p>\n

Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz. https:\/\/t.co\/J0pWnt2lki<\/p>\n

Tapper invited Murphy on CNN\u2019s \u201cThe Lead\u201d and gushed over her reporting.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of journalists might make it all the way to retirement and not have a confrontation like that with a member of Congress, not to mention one that\u2019s gone viral. It\u2019s been about a day now. How are you taking it all in?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI won\u2019t lie, it has been a lot,\u201d Murphy said. \u201cBut I was focused on doing my job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe threatened to have your phone taken away,\u201d Tapper continued. \u201cHe threatened that you would be prosecuted. Everything he was saying was completely contrary to the First Amendment and to the law in Maryland.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave you heard anything from his office?\u201d<\/p>\n

Murphy said she hadn\u2019t heard from Harris\u2019 office but won\u2019t be deterred from covering him or anyone else in the future.<\/p>\n

Tapper continued to fawn over Murphy before parting and teased a future spot for her at CNN.<\/p>\n

\u201cCat Murphy, it\u2019s a pleasure to meet you,\u201d Tapper said. \u201cHopefully we can get you to come work at CNN after you graduate in December.\u201d<\/p>\n
