Democratic Florida gubernatorial nominee David Jolly appears to be ducking a debate with his Republican opponent.<\/p>\n

He announced that he will not face Byron Donalds in a debate ahead of the November 3 election, which would make it the first race with absolutely no debates since 1974. The candidate claims that engaging in a debate \u201cwould not create constructive, honest conversation and only further stoke division, animosity, and bad will.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also accused Donalds of \u201crepeated lies and bad faith,\u201d pointing to campaign ads that \u201chave repeatedly been found to be false.\u201d<\/p>\n

The GOP candidate responded on Sunday night, targeting Jolly\u2019s platform and claiming he has \u201cno substance\u201d as a candidate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened to \u2018a dozen times?\u2019 He doesn\u2019t want to defend: His $1,000 hurricane tax on Floridians. His support for child gender surgeries. Florida Voice News\u00a0is helping voters<\/a> understand Jolly\u2019s record since he doesn\u2019t feel the need to defend it during a debate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe record Jolly is now refusing to debate is not hard to find. In a 2023 MSNBC interview, Jolly said<\/a>, \u2018You can say I don\u2019t agree with the Second Amendment. Maybe I don\u2019t. I don\u2019t care,\u2019 and added, \u2018We have to crush the culture of guns in the United States. Dramatically change gun culture in the United States, take on the Second Amendment if that\u2019s what it means.\u2019 He has called<\/a> bans on gender procedures for minors \u2018draconian,\u2019 said<\/a> it would be \u2018supportive to allow trans in youth sports,\u2019 and described<\/a> some of his own insurance and health-care ideas as \u2018pretty far-left,’\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

They also pointed out that Jolly accepted $50,000<\/a> from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker after the pair campaigned in Orlando.<\/p>\n
