U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed was offered a \u201clayup\u201d during a town hall Wednesday at the University of Michigan when he was asked to condemn Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the Democrat blew it.<\/p>\n

A student, Iman Dashti, who said he was Persian, confronted El-Sayed over Iran, stating that his family has suffered persecution at the hands of the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy cousin was hunted in the streets of Iran by the IRGC because her hijab wasn\u2019t on right,\u201d Dashti said, adding that his uncle was sentenced to death and received 50 lashes by the Iranian government.<\/p>\n

Dashti questioned El-Sayed for saying earlier this year that he did not want to comment on the death of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei because \u201cthere are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad today.\u201d<\/p>\n

I want to ask if you renounce the people that held vigils that supported this terrorist for all the stuff that he has done. I want to ask if you stand unequivocable against the Islamic Republic of Iran that killed 50,000 protestors? I haven\u2019t heard anything from you about the protesters, Abdul. Please!\u201d<\/p>\n

El-Sayed did not offer any condemnation, opting to give a typical political word salad about freedom and democracy, while criticizing the decision to \u201cgo in and take out the leadership of a foreign government.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou still haven\u2019t said it,\u201d the student pleaded. \u201cWe\u2019re dying!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be careful,\u201d El-Sayed replied, after claiming he would always stand with movements for freedom and democracy.<\/p>\n

Dashti would appear later on Fox News\u2019 \u201cThe Will Cain Show\u201d to say, \u201cI could not have given him an easier layup.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for dodging his question, the student said of El-Sayed: \u201cI think it has something to do with the fact that a lot of his supporters are very supportive of the IRGC. They love the Iranian regime, and he doesn\u2019t want to alienate them. He has an extreme base that just agrees with these horrible, horrible ideas that the majority of Americans don\u2019t believe in.\u201d<\/p>\n
