Polish President Karol Nawrocki on Tuesday revealed the name of an upcoming permanent U.S. base that is to be opened in Poland.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the work is finished by the U.S. administration, by both governments, I think then President Trump will personally be able to participate in the inauguration of Fort Trump<\/strong>,\u201d he told Bloomberg during a Wednesday interview, according to the Brussels Signal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He added that it was \u201cjust a matter of time\u201d before the base is opened, though he abstained from naming dates.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s hard for me to give specific dates, but I think this matter has been definitively confirmed, because President Trump is known for keeping his word,\u201d he said. \u201cInfrastructure preparation is progressing. In fact, the appropriate infrastructure is already being selected.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is a huge development and a complete 180 from what happened during President Donald Trump\u2019s first administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Polish government, during Trump\u2019s first term, proposed establishing \u2018Fort Trump\u2019 to solidify ties between the two countries and use American troops to deter neighboring Russia,\u201d according to Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But at the time, Trump reportedly ignored the proposal, in part because he was busy slamming NATO (Poland is a NATO ally) for not spending enough money on their own defense.<\/p>\n

The president\u2019s attitude has shifted radically since, as demonstrated by a Truth Social post that he published earlier this very month.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to the bold leadership of my friend, Karol Nawrocki, President of Poland, major progress is being made toward establishing a U.S. Army base in Poland,\u201d he wrote in the post. \u201cIf this happens, the location will be announced very soon. This will be a historic step for our Great U.S.\/Polish Alliance.\u201d<\/p>\n

All this comes as Russia continues to prod the bear.<\/p>\n

\u201cPoland has said a Russian military helicopter briefly violated its airspace, forcing the NATO member to scramble fighter jets while ground forces remained on alert,\u201d the BBC<\/a> reported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Polish leaders weren\u2019t pleased by the incursion, though they seemed hesitant to do anything more than slightly complain.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for the violation of our airspace, I understand that it was very brief, and as I said in one of my previous speeches, these things do happen between neighbors,\u201d Police Foreign Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski said in a limp-wristed statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Russian side says, \u2018We\u2019re sorry, the pilot made a mistake,\u2019 we won\u2019t make a big deal out of it,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut it is the party at fault who must take responsibility for the error.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t Russia\u2019s first time playing games.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Poland] has over the past year faced encroachments by Russian drones into its airspace, a rocket crashing in eastern Poland, explosions near the border and attempts to sabotage the railway tracks leading to the Rzesz\u00f3w-Jasionka hub, southeast Poland, through which 95 per cent of military aid to Ukraine from the West flows,\u201d according to Brussels Signal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in the midst of a hybrid war,\u201d Nawrocki told Bloomberg. \u201cRussian provocations are on the one hand shaping the future battlefield, but on the other hand, they\u2019re testing the resilience of NATO. For sure the situation is serious.\u201d<\/p>\n

What remains unclear is the final location of Fort Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to Polish media reports, the shortlist is down to three locations in western Poland: One near the northwest city of Szczecin, one near Pozna\u0144 and, the favourite, a location near the southwest city of Wroc\u0142aw,\u201d according to Brussels Signal.<\/p>\n
