As a ban turned into a boycott and a corporate media lawsuit, the White House traded up for transparency with a new streaming endeavor.<\/p>\n

Late last week, President Donald Trump decried \u201cFICTION and LIES\u201d from \u201cFake News\u201d outlets as he officially banned CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House. Monday, as they filed suit against the administration and garnered support from their peers, the chief executive countered with the launch of a new kind of access for all dubbed \u201cTrump TV.\u201d<\/p>\n

The launch of the new YouTube channel came hours after the trio of networks filed a lawsuit<\/a> Monday claiming their ban from White House access amounted to a First Amendment violation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President banned CNN, MS NOW, and POLITICO, and the individual reporters covering the news for those media organizations, in disregard of the most basic guarantees of the First Amendment and the Due Process Clause,\u201d read the suit in part. \u201cHe did so expressly for the improper purpose of retaliating against Plaintiffs for past news coverage because he deemed it \u2018negative\u2019 and chilling future reporting about him and his administration\u2019s policies and actions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis ban could not be a more direct assault on the First Amendment nor a more blatant violation of our most fundamental constitutional principles,\u201d the court document claimed as Fox News and other major networks stood in solidarity<\/a> with the plaintiffs, opting against replacing CNN\u2019s pool coverage of the president.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the lawsuit, a lengthy social media post from Trump included criticism of the judge \u2014 who\u2019d previously ruled in favor of Jim Acosta when he challenged his hard pass revocation \u2014 while addressing concerns about biased coverage.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is called the Oval Office, and it should be treated with Decorum, Respect, and Dignity, not defiled by Third Rate Clowns, who purposefully distort, twist, and degrade with everything they write or publish,\u201d wrote the president. \u201cVirtually every story about me, or anything having to do with me, is negative, wrong and, in many cases, DANGEROUS for our Country!\u201d<\/p>\n\n

During a press conference in New York City following his meeting with Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D), Trump similarly addressed the ban, saying in part, \u201cI think the press also has an obligation. And, you know, I won in a landslide; I won the election in a landslide. I\u2019ve done great things. I\u2019ve done a lot of great things. I\u2019ve settled eight wars; we have the best economic numbers for the country in the history of our country, we have $21 trillion pouring in \u2026 Nobody\u2019s ever done what we\u2019ve done.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI never get anything positive. It\u2019s always negative,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

And if they\u2019re fake news, I really think I have an obligation not to allow them into [the White House] \u2026 They\u2019re very bad for the country, very bad for national security,\u201d continued Trump. \u201cSo I have that obligation. So we\u2019ll see how it works out.\u201d<\/p>\n
