Outgoing Sen. Thom Tillis, the Democrat in Republican clothing from North Carolina, announced this week that he backs an attention-getting scheme launched by another outgoing \u201cRepublican,\u201d Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, to impeach Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.<\/p>\n

Of course, Tillis voted to confirm Hegseth to head up the Pentagon before he declared that he \u201cneeds to go,\u201d so make sense of that.<\/p>\n

Massie, who was soundly defeated in a primary election this year, accused Hegseth of \u201chigh crimes and misdemeanors\u201d for obeying Commander in Chief Donald Trump, filing eight articles of impeachment against the Trump official while citing various military operations, such as Iran, Venezuela, and Yemen.<\/p>\n

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) sent the House into early recess Wednesday, denying Massie a vote on his politically motivated smear. This prompted a reporter to ask Tillis whether he would back the effort.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the House comes back, they\u2019re gonna have to take up that matter,\u201d the reporter said. \u201cWould you encourage Republicans to think about voting in favor of those articles of impeachment?\u201d<\/p>\n

Tills has been criticizing Hegseth for months accusing him of driving experienced military leaders out and creating a\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll let the House do what the House is gonna do,\u201d the Trump-hating RINO senator replied. \u201cI think I\u2019m pretty well staked out on my assessment of Mr. Hegseth. This is not personal. I mean, people need to realize I worked as a management consultant. I went into companies and identified areas where they needed to improve. We\u2019ve got a management problem here. He needs to go, whether it\u2019s impeachment or the most expedient route \u2014 just the president to replace him \u2014 would be great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taking his lead from the compromised media\u2019s fixation on conditions aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, Tillis called for Hegseth\u2019s replacement earlier this month, citing his \u201cinept management of the brave men and women who serve our country.\u201d Of course, the alleged \u201cdeteriorating conditions\u201d aboard the flagship nuclear-powered aircraft carrier were more media hype than reality.<\/p>\n
