A nefarious marriage between Ilhan Omar and her alleged brother won\u2019t be the catalyst to boot the Dem rep from the country amid a federal investigation of the embattled Minnesota Rep.<\/p>\n

Omar has been accused of marrying her brother, Ahmed Elmi, as part of an immigration scheme. To date, there has been no clear-cut evidence that Elmi is her brother. But that won\u2019t be what gets her deported, according to several New York Post sources.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there\u2019s enough evidence that she or [her father] lied on her immigration application to become a United States citizen, whether it was one time or several times, the Trump administration could initiate a denaturalization process that would strip her of her citizenship,\u201d a top immigration official told The Post.<\/p>\n

Omar became a US citizen as a teenager, according to paperwork filed by her father, Nur Said, the Post reported.<\/p>\n

A former lawyer for ICE explained why Omar\u2019s alleged \u201cGreen Card\u201d marriage that ended in 2017 is not a focus of the case.<\/p>\n

If Omar were a legitimate citizen at the time of an alleged scam marriage, then her \u201cbrother\u201d could be booted and banned from returning to the U.S., but Omar wouldn\u2019t be deported, according to the ICE lawyer.<\/p>\n

She would also dodge the punishment for marriage fraud \u2014 a possible five-year prison sentence and $250,000 fine \u2013 due to the five-year statute of limitations.<\/p>\n

Sources who spoke in anonymity to the Post explained that the investigation into Omar will likely focus on her naturalization process.<\/p>\n

Omar has been accused of being older than 17 at the time she, her father and siblings became citizens in 2020.<\/p>\n

If the allegations were correct, she would not have been considered a minor and her citizenship could be revoked.<\/p>\n

Former Minnesota Congressional candidate AJ Kern had accused Omar of revising her official birth year from 1981 to 1982 on Minnesota Legislative Reference Library\u2019s website, the Post reported.<\/p>\n

Records currently state Omar was born in 1982, which would make her 17 at the time of naturalization, the Post added.<\/p>\n

The investigation will also look into whether Omar\u2019s father lied in any of the paperwork required for citizenship.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf she misrepresented herself, that would wipe her out from naturalization,\u201d the former immigration official said.<\/p>\n

He also added that Omar is subject to pre-1983 law stating that both parents must be naturalized U.S. citizens for their children to become citizens, unless one parent died.<\/p>\n

Omar has long claimed that her mother died when she was two years old, according to the Post.<\/p>\n
