Al Green, D-Texas, will have to wait a little bit longer to see President Donald Trump impeached.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the House voted to table a resolution for impeachment brought forward by Green. The 232-147 vote could be an example of the kind of battle Republicans will have to face if Democrats take control in November. It appears that hate for the president, specifically from Green, who has led several impeachment pushes in the past, has not dwindled as he heads into the second half of his final term.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker has taken issue with the conduct of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during city sweeps for undocumented aliens.<\/p>\n<p>According to Fox News, Green took issue with some members of his own party before the vote, calling out those whom he thinks would try to \u201cprotect\u201d Trump.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Green ripped into his own party before the vote, saying Democrats who table or redirect the resolution are effectively protecting Trump: \u201cI believe that there are some Republicans and Democrats who are considering voting to protect the president. If they\u2019re not considering protecting him, that will be the effect of what they will do,\u201d the lawmaker reportedly said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreen\u2019s resolution sought to impeach Mr. Trump over the conduct of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection. He cited the killings of Renee Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero by federal immigration agents this year,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/house-al-green-resolution-trump-impeachment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a> reported. \u201cHouse Democratic leadership did not whip the vote, but announced in a joint statement on Monday that they would vote \u2018present\u2019 on the motion to table Green\u2019s impeachment resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, 47 lawmakers opted to vote \u201cpresent\u201d on the motion.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Whip Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York released a joint statement claiming that none of the \u201cwork\u201d had been done to give impeachment a backbone, and blamed Republicans for \u201crubber-stamping\u201d the president\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImpeachment is a sacred constitutional vehicle designed to hold a corrupt executive accountable for abuse of power, breaking the law and violating the public trust. The effort traditionally requires a comprehensive investigative process, the collection and review of thousands of documents, an exacting scrutiny of the facts, the examination of dozens of key witnesses, Congressional hearings, sustained public organizing and the marshaling of the forces of democracy to build a broad national consensus,\u201d they wrote. \u201cNone of that serious work has been done, with the Republican majority focused solely on rubber stamping Donald Trump\u2019s extreme agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Green will be leaving office in January, there will likely be no shortage of leftists vying to take the president down. In fact, Rep.
