A psychotic Lindsay Clancy fan who hanged her own 2-year-old son to death\u00a0 later sang a \u201cWizard of Oz\u201d tune while being questioned by the police.<\/p>\n

Illinois woman Corie Walsh, 40, allegedly hanged her son off a rafter on Sept. 1 and then left him there for her other children to find, according to The Sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When Walsh\u2019s two other children returned from school that afternoon and saw the body, they rushed to an unnamed neighbor\u2019s home for help.<\/p>\n

The neighbor went to the Walsh\u2019s home, where she reported to the authorities that the deceased boy, Barrett Walsh, \u201cwas cold and had no pulse,\u201d according to court filings reviewed by CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When the police arrived, they found the deceased boy\u2019s mother \u201cin a bathtub filled with bloody water and giggling,\u201d according to The Sun. The psychotic woman had reportedly been cutting herself with a knife.<\/p>\n

Questioned by the police, Walsh went cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.<\/p>\n

She \u201cwent on an unhinged rant while speaking with detectives, singing her own rendition of the \u2018Follow the Yellow Brick Road\u2019 song from the \u2018Wizard of Oz\u2019 film,\u201d The Sun reported, citing court documents.<\/p>\n

Citing what first responders had told him, Walsh\u2019s attorney, Robert Kerr, revealed that while in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, his client was \u201cin and out of consciousness\u201d and not responding to questions.<\/p>\n

The first responders reportedly said that Walsh was \u201ctalking to us, but not coherent,\u201d and that at one point she started shouting out the names of fruits.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen she was talking, it seemed like she wanted to know what she was saying, but what she was saying that she didn\u2019t make sense,\u201d they said, according to Kerr.<\/p>\n

She said, among other things, that she\u2019d also killed her other children by drowning them, though that obviously never happened. She later said that she\u2019d killed her son because she thought he was the \u201cdevil\u201d and \u201cantichrist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kerr has alleged that his client suffered a psychotic breakdown and pointed to her conflicting statements to investigators as proof. For example, though she told the cops she\u2019d gone to McDonald\u2019s for a breakfast sandwich on the afternoon of the killing, the McDonald\u2019s nearby stops serving breakfast at 11.<\/p>\n

This case bears strong similarities to the Clancy case. In that case, Clancy strangled her three children to death while allegedly also having a psychotic break linked to her alleged postpartum psychosis. However, the connection between the Walsh case and the Clancy case runs even deeper.<\/p>\n

Walsh was reportedly texting about the Clancy trial in a group chat only hours before she hanged her son. Her friends described the text messages she wrote as being \u201cconfusing\u201d and \u201cout of character.\u201d They also said that she falsely believed that Clancy\u2019s husband was the real killer.<\/p>\n

Speaking of husbands, Walsh admitted that she\u2019d planned to kill her husband with poison as well. He wasn\u2019t at home at the time of Barrett\u2019s killing.<\/p>\n

Some critics have accused the Walsh killing of being a copycat murder. Kerr didn\u2019t appreciate this comparison, calling it \u201csickening.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDescribing Corie to a copied Lindsay is to take an easy bait,\u201d he alleged, according to Chicago station WMAQ<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He also said that his client was \u201cseverely mental ill\u201d from a \u201cbrief psychotic disorder\u201d and needs help.<\/p>\n

Critics say the best \u201chelp\u201d would involve locking Walsh, whom they describe as an attention-seeking fiend, up for life.<\/p>\n

She saw all the Lindsey Clancy fans in the streets and decided she wanted that same amount of attention.<\/p>\n
