Fox News\u2019 Brit Hume had a short, simple reply to the news that a Lindsay Clancy juror believed they could create \u201cchange\u201d with their verdict.<\/p>\n

When one is selected for a jury, the mission is usually to decide if someone is innocent or guilty, and on what charges they are guilty. In some cases, such as the Clancy trial, guilt is alread stipulated to and the jury is to decide the level of criminal responsibility the defendant had at the time of the crime.<\/p>\n

But what happens when jurors realize they can use their verdict to affect social change?<\/p>\n

During her next media tour stop, juror Paula Devlin says the mostly female jury knew the Lindsay Clancy trial could create change to \u201cmake it better for other women.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clancy juror Paula Devlin joined CBS to discuss the deliberations that ultimately resulted in a mistrial, at one point admitting that the jury knew the decision would be bigger than just the defendant\u2019s fate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe knew that this was a turning point, and this would be something that could change something to make it better for other women in the future, for other families. You know, justice for those kids would be this never happening again,\u201d she declared. It was also revealed that Devlin\u2019s mental health was negatively impacted during and after the trial, even rendering her unable to \u201clook at the families around her\u201d as she enjoyed her lunch breaks in a park or on a beach.<\/p>\n
